Monthly Astrology Forecast: Virgo Season

Forecast for 22 August - 21 September 2022

You shuffle your tarot deck, lay the cards across the table, and are drawn to the energy of one in particular. You flip it over and are greeted with the familiar artwork of the 8 of Pentacles. Whether upright or vertical, you know there is work to be done. Whether it’s personal growth or honing new skills, there is a journey ahead for you that requires firmly rooting yourself in your goals, but knowing you will have to adapt and shift with the winds of change. The 8 of Pentacles is correspondent to the first decan of Virgo—much like the energy of the Sun’s entrance into Virgo.

As we start Virgo Season, opportunity is a whisper on the tips of our tongues, waiting to be spoken out loud like a spell of manifestation. Mercury is already in Virgo forming a trine with Pluto in Capricorn, promising this invocation can be successful—but in perfect poetry, the planet of communication is slowing down, preparing for its upcoming retrograde. Shortly after Virgo Season begins, Mercury moves into Libra, though just in time to begin its shadow period. In just over 2 weeks after the shift to Libra, Mercury will station retrograde and begin its backward journey to exaltation. Throughout Virgo Season, Mercury will be in Libra, traveling backward toward its highest vibration, but only reaching Virgo after the shift to Libra Season. In this way, we are reminded to temper our speech—we need to be careful not to jinx ourselves or over-divulge the information we are called to learn and reflect on during this season. Virgo is the sign of details, an analyst by nature. While both Gemini and Virgo are ruled by chatty Mercury, Virgo’s expression is akin to refining ideas and optimizing processes. The underlying message I get from this is simple: Don’t speak on it until it is time. Ground yourself in the necessary work and finalizing the plan—cross your t’s and dot your i’s.

Utilize the energy of the New Moon in Virgo on August 27th to speak your intentions into existence. Plant your seeds as if they are reality, telling the universe exactly what the outcome will be when you put in the necessary work. Venus will be in Leo squaring Uranus and the North Node in Taurus—our passion and creativity will be a guiding light as the strange and unexpected shifts clear obstacles out of our way. That square is also challenged by Venus’ opposition to Saturn. The message is clear: stick the course and don’t let shiny toy syndrome distract you. The release of that t-square aligns with the South Node in Scorpio, reminding us to explore our own shadows if there’s a challenge we’re unsure of how to answer.

After the New Moon and just before the Full Moon, Venus will enter Virgo and Mercury will station retrograde (joining Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto in backward motion). The Full Moon in Pisces is led by Jupiter—at that time, still retrograde in Aries. Jupiter’s loose opposition to Mercury retrograde in Libra is another reminder to not let our big thinking and bright optimism outweigh our logical mind. Mercury is supported by a trine to Mars in Gemini, confirming that we need to put the radical energy we may find into critical thinking and weighing all sides. Pisces is known for getting carried away and joining the welcoming abyss of limitless opportunity—not exactly critical thinking. This Full Moon is impacted by the Nodes again, though this time both the Sun and the Moon are in a standoff of similar support. The Moon in Pisces is grounded by a sextile to Uranus in Taurus, aligned with the North Node, and also trine the South Node in Scorpio. The Sun is in Virgo, grounded by a trine to Uranus and the North Node, and forming a sextile to the South Node. With the Sun more supported by the North Node and the Moon more supported by the South Node, both are touched, in a way, by Uranus and our path ahead is a decision we need to make. Amidst all this feeling, grounding, and critical thinking, we are called to see the unexpected for what it truly is and let go of the fear or self-doubt we are holding that stands in our own way. There are two paths to choose from. The siren song of the path of least resistance will sing us a melody we already know. We are challenged instead to choose the path that may seem more difficult or outside of our comfort zone. If we accept, just over a week later when the Sun forms a trine to Pluto, we may start to see the seeds of our effort sprouting around us.

Switching our focus back to Venus in the final days of the season, she’s been following behind the Sun, approaching a trine to Uranus and the North Node just two days before Libra Seasons begin on September 22nd. Here, Venus is in the second decan of Virgo—an energy that is correspondent to the 9 of Pentacles. We can appreciate the work we have put in under the admonition of the 8 of Pentacles (Sun in Virgo), but it is the 9 of Pentacles (Venus in Virgo) confidence we carry into the next season with us. Abundance, satisfaction, security, and self-worth are ours to claim.
